The purpose of this project is to provide materials for a two year college music theory course. Its goal is to describe and administer the tools of Western music analysis through the parameters or basic elements of music but in a way that allows those tools to be used to understand the music of any culture, style, or historical period.

Book Four applies the tools developed in all three previous books and uses them to make a complete written analysis of music from different historical periods as well as contemporary music and music from other cultures.
